Previous day, I attended to a presentation on chronology of significant events and photographers in the history of Japanese photography presented by Kenji Kawamoto.

It was very interesting to know about Japanese photography's expansion and development of its own identity and how Japanese fine-art photography achieved a worldwide recognition with such names as Araki, Sugimoto, etc...

Event hosted by Cizgelikedi , a visual arts initiative.

Thanks to Kenji Kawamoto, Arzu Filiz Güngör and Yalçın Çıdamlı for their efforts.

Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan has won Cannes Film Festival's Best Director award on Sunday for his searing family drama Three Monkeys.

Ceylan is one of my favorite photographers, who is a master of shooting beautiful images.

Sheldon Brown: 1944-2008

Sheldon

Just heard the sad news that bicycle technical guru, internet legend and community treasure Sheldon Brown passed away last Sunday. He was a real advocate and served as an example to all of us in cycling world. The community is richer for his having lived. He'll be missed by many...

I've learned so much from him over the years from his articles on the Harris Cyclery website.

Thank you Sheldon for all you have done for us...
